Basil - Sweet: The pungent leaves of basil are delicious in dishes made with tomatoes, cheese, eggs and fish. Remove the weakest plants. Water regularly. To stimulate branching, pinch the tips of the stems when they reach 15cm (6") tall. Can be picked at any time for fresh use. Dry quickly to retain flavor. Can be planted indoors . Annual.

Basil - Purple: A purple-leaved variety, selected for its uniform leaves and greater vigor than other purple varieties. Harvest leaves regularly and remove flowers to focus the plant's energy on producing leaves. These large sponge cake plants are also a great addition to a window box or window box.

 

Flavor : Slightly sweeter aromatic flavor than the green leaf variety

Preparation ideas : Always add it just before serving to cooked dishes, as its flavor diminishes with cooking.
